We were very excited to attend the Oi Conference in City Hall Cardiff on March 30th. A jam-packed day at Europes fastest growing social and mobile media gathering.
We mingled with heads of social and mobile from Barclays, Sky, Yahoo, Tumblr, DigitasLBi, We Are Social, NBC, JOE.co.uk and many more.
We enjoyed keynotes, seminars, an exhibition zone and master classes meeting many interesting industry peers along the way.
There were many highlights for us including hearing different opinions on how to best utilize social media, how best to engage with clients and your target market and how not to….how established brands such as Weetabix have struggled in gaining mass audiences socially and how making your audience feel apart of something can effect mass engagement.
Some stats that stood out for us were:
- 22% of internet users block adverts online.
- 60% of millennials block adverts online….all because they want to cut through to the content…
Food for thought, maybe the way forward is to advertise through content and be consumer centric.
