It has been an exciting and busy few weeks here at The Media Angel and we are absolutely thrilled to announce that we now have several new clients on board – Air Malta, Plaid Cymru and The British Science Association. Air Malta was keen to promote their weekly direct flights from Cardiff to Malta including the free 20kg of hold baggage. With our existing experience working with Cardiff Airport and the airline sector combined, we are confident that our recommended media mix will deliver great results. Plaid Cymru wanted to raise awareness of their Election Campaign and decided to run with some excellent out of home advertising in a prime Cardiff City Centre location. Here we maximised the flexibility of the out of home digital format by running several different messages across the duration of the campaign to raise awareness on specific days. The British Science Association would like to tell everyone about the British Science Festival 2016. Hosted by Swansea University, the festival will take place between 6th and 11th September and will feature a diverse programme of talks, debates, performances and activities. Last month, we went along to Cardiff Bay for a conference on the new innovative features provided by Sky AdSmart. We were excited to learn the further enhanced opportunities and possibilities for our clients created by these new features. Working with Sky AdSmart we can help our clients – Select the specific audience they want to reach Restrict who sees the advert to a specific region, city or postal are Show an advert only when the defined audience is watching With the new features of Sky AdSmart the possibilities are endless, particularly with their MasterCard Advertising Insights, Dunnhumby partnering and TECI Targeting. So what will these new features mean for our clients and fellow advertisers? MasterCard Advertising Insights that are now available when purchasing Sky AdSmart enables you to deliver addressable TV based on location & aggregate purchase data. This is done via insight drawn from actual transactions. The feature also analyses timely relevant data based on current spending patterns. Targeting segments are informed by activity from more than 24 million payment cards and around 1.5B UK transactions. The MasterCard Attributes are broken down into six primary segments which all can be broken down further into sub-segments, from flights and travel to sports and entertainment. Sky’s partnering with Dunnhumby enables Sky AdSmart campaigns to run on Tesco ClubCard segments also – 18m Tesco ClubCard Households 7m Sky AdSmart Households 5m Matched Dataset Reach and Evaluate Households based on their previous and future purchase behaviour Finally, Sky has also developed the future of segmenting Sky households into groups based on their adoption of new technology. The best of our 2015

We had the best time in 2015. It certainly was a fantastic year for us at The Media Angel. The last 12 months were filled with so many highs it has been difficult to pick our favourites, however we have managed to select some of our best moments:   At the very top of the list has to be our win at CIM Canmol Marketing Excellence Awards 2015. As the only media planning and buying agency to win across Wales at this event, we were extremely proud of our reward for helping client Ty Hafan achieve returns of over 300%. Our efforts in helping Ty Hafan obtain these returns on a limited budget were described as “simply brilliant” by the judging panel.   We were delighted to help Cardiff Airport successfully launch Flybe, their newest airline to the south Wales market. We implemented a large campaign for Flybe securing sponsorship of the weather on all major South Wales radio stations. We also ensured Flybe’s message could be seen at many high footfall areas in South Wales including Swansea, Cardiff, Bridgend, Newport and Pontypridd train stations and St David’s 2 Cardiff among many others! Flybe is Europe’s largest regional airline, promoting 14-routes from Cardiff, including three brand new routes to Cork, Munich and Milan. With our assistance, passenger growth at Cardiff Airport has increased by 13% compared with 2014.   Similarly, our campaign for Vueling which involved sponsorship of ITV Wales Cymru weather and Vueling Cardiff Bay Beach contributed to the success of the airline at Cardiff Airport. The Media Angel win a prestigious Marketing Award!

This year’s CIM Canmol: Wales Marketing Awards was a particularly exciting one for us at The Media Angel. Not only were we delighted when we received the news in October that our work with amazing client Ty Hafan had been nominated for an excellence award in the Life Sciences category, we are also incredibly proud and absolutely delighted to announce that we were successful in winning this award! Ours was the only media planning and buying agency successful in winning at this year’s ceremony. Our work with Ty Hafan on the Legacy campaign was described as “simply brilliant” by the judging panel, who were extremely impressed by the results generated. The campaign created returns of over 300% for the charity, achieving over £360,000 in pledges on a small budget of just £12,000. Our team worked so hard to implement a hugely successful yet cost effective campaign using a mix of new and traditional media platforms including video on demand for the first time, print and direct mail. Campaigns were put forward based on their creation and delivery of innovative and effective marketing campaigns delivering outstanding results. “We couldn’t be more thrilled and excited to have won a Canmol 2015 award for our work with our wonderful client  Ty Hafan.
