Great news for advertising, the UK is on the move once again. Things aren’t back to normal just yet but the analytics below show that vehicle movement and walking footfall is almost up there with pre-lock-down figures.

This data is generated by counting the number of requests made to Apple Maps for directions in select countries/regions, sub-regions and cities.

Out of Home audiences are back, and so are brands!

OOH is driving brand and activation, with every level of the brand funnel showing positive uplift, including ad awareness +37% and conversion up 71%!

Week on Week statistics show that Driving is up 2%, Walking up 10% and retail up 2%. The weekend of 1st August saw driving mobility increase to above pre COVID levels.

Retail environments continue to increase in footfall – with recreation visits rising to 70% of Pre COVID levels from small towns to big cities.

Roadside audiences are recovering quickly and shopping centres are seeing a good return of audience, exemplifying audience return across all areas locally and in city centres.

The UK’s mobility index indicates that there is a return of 76% mobility across all regions. The school holidays are enhancing this movement around coastal areas, and key summer activities.

Traffic on the London road network is up 1.6% and bus usage indicates a 7% jump in the past week. London Underground statistics however are not being readily shared but we do know that although numbers of users have a long way to go before they return to pre Covid levels, week on week increases are up 8% with Piccadilly Circus up 18% (w/c 27 July). As people are encouraged to return to work over forthcoming weeks, figures are likely to go up again.
