RAJAR Q2 2015 in Wales
This week we take a look at a breakdown of the latest Q2 RAJAR stats in Wales, ahead of trading.
Heart South Wales gained the highest reach with 458,000 people tuning in weekly (8.6 hours per listener on average), followed by Capital South Wales with 199,000 people (6 hours per listener on average) and Nation Radio reaching 179,999 people (4.8 hours per listener on average).
Smaller stations also did well in terms of average listening hours – listeners tuned in for 10.4 hours a week to 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire and 10.1 hours to 96.4 FM The Wave.
While Heart remains the biggest contender in Wales up by 11,000 listeners in South Wales, compared to Q1 2015, its North West and Wales counterpart dropped by 28,000 listeners.
Meanwhile, it’s been a good quarter for Smooth, it’s North West and Wales station was up by the most in comparison to last quarter with an extra 22,000 listeners. Smooth Wales also achieved 11,000 extra listeners.
UK-wide, RAJAR found on average a listener tunes into 21.7 hours of live radio per week and Digital listening in an average week across Q2 2015 totals 418 million hours. Also, 25% of adults claim to listen to the radio via a mobile phone or tablet at least once per month. Up 13% Year on Year.
